Age of Empires I is a history-based and original real-time strategy computer game developed by Ensemble Studios and published by Microsoft. It was first released in North America on 26 October 1997. Age of Empires was later expanded with the Rise of Rome expansion pack, which added several new units, civilizations, and features.
